Capable of sewing through leather, denim and a variety of tougher materials - a very strong machine indeed. Hand Crank - Immensely powerful still, and truly portable. You can add a motor to this machine at any time with zero modifications. His machine has been thoroughly serviced - what does this mean? We removed the bobbin casing, cushion bracket and dog feed. We completely dismantled the entire needle thread tension assembly check spring. Thread guard, tension indicator, indicator flange and thumb nut. We removed the side plate, bobbin plate and the hand wheel. Once all of these parts were removed we thoroughly de-greased and cleaned them. Nspected for any other worn parts, then greased and replaced back in order. Needle timing was also checked. Finally we tested the machine on a range of fabrics and adjusted and balance the tension as appropriate. Easily sews through leather see photos. If you are looking for a compact but capable machine to sew thicker materials such as leather and demin for a range of projects then the Singer 99k is an excellent choice. The build quality is second-to-none. Steel gears so brilliant traction and won't break like later plastic gears. We took the time and effort to restore this machine and other Singers as we adore them. We think the build quality, the design, and the performance is among the best in the sewing machine industry. The beauty of these machines is that they require very little maintenance and are sure to last a lifetime. The 99k is a fantastic choice as the gears driving the shaft are steel therefore giving phenomenal traction and power when sewing tough materials whilst also being very compact. Great for all general to heavy sewing tasks. Easily glide over 6 layers of denim.

This machine has been tested and sews through leather like butter - see photo. Yes, you can find cheaper Singer's out there but often they are not in a good state to operate and often need further work and attention. Our machines are individually thoroughly checked and are read to use "out of the box".

When packing these machines we detach the machine from the wooden base. This is to ensure no force is placed on the box corners during transit. The machine is easily placed back onto the base and tightened via 2 screws and takes only 1 minute.

These singer machines are genuine vintage items therefore there are marks on the hand wheel and the machine and base commensurate with age - these have no effect on the functionality of the machine. Sew light, medium and heavy materials.
