Threading the needle with built-in threader : Raise the needle to its highest position. Lower the threader lever fully, hook the thread under the guide, then release the lever - the threader pulls thread through the needle eye. Pull the thread loop out. Drop-in top bobbin : Open the clear cover on the top left. Insert the bobbin so the thread unwinds counter-clockwise (follow the diagram on the machine).Pull thread through the slit and to the left. The machine is ready to sew. Selecting stitches on LCD : Use the stitch selection dial or buttons.
The LCD shows the stitch number, recommended presser foot, and default length/width. You can adjust length and width manually. Changing presser feet : Raise the presser foot lever. Press the black button on the back of the foot holder, detach the foot, and snap on a new foot. Ensure it clicks into place.Cleaning the machine : Unplug the machine. Use the small brush (included) to remove lint from the bobbin area and feed dogs. Do not use compressed air (it pushes lint deeper).
Oil the machine : Follow the manual for oiling points (usually only for metal moving parts). Most modern Brother machines need only occasional oiling; consult the manual.
